Having more than one source of income can improve your finances, but only if you manage the money properly.
A salary, freelance income, business profits, rental income, commissions or other side income can make your total monthly income look healthy. But irregular income can also make budgeting difficult, encourage unnecessary spending and make it harder to know how much money you actually have available.
The solution is not to treat every payment as extra spending money.
Instead, you need a system for combining different income sources, separating personal and business money, budgeting around reliable income, handling irregular income and directing additional money toward specific financial goals.
